AAEA Lunch + Learn: UA's Energy Research Center - NCREPT

November 19, 2018 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM

NCREPT

Fayetteville, AR 72701

Join AAEA in Fayetteville for a lunch and learn on Monday, November 19th spotlighting the University's energy research center: the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (NCREPT).

NCREPT was established for the purpose of investigating solid-state solutions for the electric power grid including protection devices, FACTS and microgrids, as well as energy storage and distributed generation applications. Earlier this year, the UA celebrated the center's 5,000-square-foot expansion that will allow it to expand the scope of its work, including cybersecurity projects, testing power electronics and improving the electric grid. The 6-megawatt center is the highest power test facility on any U.S. university campus, and companies pay to use the center to test power electronics before using them at their business. About 50 companies have worked with the center, which was established in 2008. The center is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this month.

The event will include a presentation featuring the center's executive director, Dr. Alan Mantooth, distinguished professor in the College of Engineering, and businesses spun out of academic research at NCREPT. Following the presentation, attendees will be allowed to tour the center.

The event is free to attend. However, registration is required. RSVP here to reserve your spot.
