Executive Director, AAEA
Statement by AAEA
“The Supreme Court’s decision to stay the Clean Power Plan while the litigation proceeds through the courts is disappointing,” said Steve Patterson, Executive Director of AAEA. “However, we remain encouraged by knowing that the law and the market are on our side — and the future belongs to advanced energy.
The stay cannot reverse trends we are witnessing in Arkansas and throughout the country where innovative technology is replacing old energy resources to meet the energy needs of the 21st century. Smart energy solutions in buildings, low-cost solar power, affordable LED lighting systems and energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems are just some of the technologies becoming more prevalent in the Arkansas energy marketplace.
We believe that a policy like the Clean Power Plan will simply accelerate energy market trends that are already in place and we are confident that upon full review, the rule will be upheld on its merits.”
