The Department of Energy announced this week it is extending the public comment period for the proposed Plains and Eastern Clean Line transmission project to July 13, 2015.  The original deadline for comments was set to expire on June 12.

On April 28, 2015, DOE published a Notice of Application for Proposed Project for Clean Line Plains & Eastern Transmission Line (80 Fed. Reg. 23520) requesting public comment on an application submitted by Clean Line Energy Partners, LLC under Section 1222 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.  .

The updated application and supporting materials can still be found on DOE’s website.

Comments submitted to DOE concerning Clean Line’s application prior to this announcement do not need to be resubmitted as a result of this extension of the comment period.

Earlier this week the Arkansas Congressional Delegation and Tennessee U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander asked DOE to extend the comment period by 60 days until August 12.
