Legacy builder Stitt Energy Systems recognized for protecting the environment through energy-efficient construction

[Rogers, AR, May 19, 2015] – In honor of the 20th Anniversary of the ENERGY STAR Certified Homes program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Stitt Energy Systems, Inc. with the 2015 ENERGY STAR Special Recognition Award in Homebuilding to honor its legacy as an ENERGY STAR builder. Stitt was recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2015.

Stitt Energy, an ENERGY STAR partner since 1996, was honored for its longstanding commitment in the program to construct homes that meet ENERGY STAR specifications. Its homes typically include solar electric and solar water heating systems, which save 20% or more energy compared to the baseline ENERGY STAR home.

“We are proud of our legacy with ENERGY STAR certified homes and honored to receive this award,” said Orlo Stitt, President of Stitt Energy. “It’s exciting to be a part of ENERGY STAR’s 20-year celebration in providing homeowners with comfortable, high-quality homes that go the extra mile to save energy and money.”

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than two billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2013 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

“As our ENERGY STAR Certified New Homes program celebrates 20 years, I applaud Stitt for its long-standing commitment to building homes that are not only energy-efficient, but also help preserve a healthy planet for future generations,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “Builders such as Stitt Energy Systems are helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that fuel climate change.” ENERGY STAR has 16,000 partners working to protect the environment through greater energy efficiency, including manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies, and home builders.
