The Arkansas Advanced Energy Foundation (AAEF) is proud to announce the next speaker in our series of programs highlighting emerging advanced energy technologies. This event is especially tailored to AAEA members, sustainability managers, advanced energy industry, state clean power plan stakeholders and open to the general public. Lunch is provided, however due to space limitations, advance RSVP is required.
EPA’s proposed Clean Power Plan rule relies heavily on available energy efficiency to set targets for states, and EPA has indicated that they expect energy efficiency to be an important element of state’s plans to comply with the targets. The focus on energy efficiency is motivated by energy efficiency being the least-cost strategy for meeting targets, minimizing the economic burden of the regulations. States like Arkansas that have already embraced energy efficiency are positioned to get even greater benefits under their state plans.
Mr. Elliott will discuss the energy efficiency resource available in Arkansas, how the state might measure and evaluate the programs and policies, and what the economic benefits would be to the state from an expanded embrace of energy efficiency that extends to all customers.
Neal Elliott is the Associate Director for Research of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), coordinating ACEEE’s overall research efforts. Elliott has been with ACEEE since 1993, and is an internationally recognized expert and author on energy efficiency programs and policies, industrial energy policy, combined heat and power, and a frequent speaker at domestic and international conferences. He is the recipient of the 2014 Industrial Energy Technology Conference Energy Award.
Elliott received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University, and was a Dean’s Fellow and received a Ph.D. from Duke University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina and holds six patents. Elliott serves on the Strategic Advisory Group for the Institute for Industrial Productivity, and Boards of the Industrial Energy Technology Conference and Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition.
