The Agua Caliente solar photovoltaic plant in Yuma County, Arizona is now online. It currently stands at 100 megawatts of power, but its output is expected to reach 290 megawatts by the time it’s completed in 2014. The plant is owned by NRG Energy, and First Solar is building, operating, and maintaining the site. Greentech Media reports:
PG&E has a power purchase agreement in place for the electricity generated by the project. When completed, the project will hold the title of world’s largest PV project until a few other behemoths go live.
